Don’t call me (again)

So the backup phone seems to be dead, or very near death. It turned off and just won’t turn on again, at least not for any length of time. I turn it on and occasionally get the white screen of death, sometimes I get as far as entering my SIM password but never much further than that. This was after a prolonged period of good-workingness where I got everything back to just how I like it. The funny thing is that even today, when it wouldn’t turn on, I managed to reinstall the firmware. So that’s fucking weird. I guess it’s in some kind of coma.

I had bought a new battery because I thought the backup needed one. Turns out it didn’t. And the batteries are $50 a pop. I tried to take it back but of course they wouldn’t give a refund, so now I have store credit at the friggin battery barn so I’ll be well stocked up for AAAs for the next six years.

I was noticing today on the train how addicted to the phone I’ve become. At least, when I don’t have a book on the go. I finished one last week just after phone #1 went missing so any day on the train since I’ve been left staring out into space or making notes in my strange train diary. (Recently I’ve been writing about how I don’t have my phone to play with on the train when I’m not reading a book.)

Aaaaahhhh… I’m tired of the whole thing now, and I just want to be able to surf the net on the way home on the train. Is that too much to ask.

I’m near the end of my contract though and I can update my handset now. I wasn’t going to bother with an insurance claim because I had the backup phone and the excess was too high but I might try to work a deal now where instead of the whole amount, I get an amount, minus the excess to put down on a new handset and the rest I pay off over the life of the contract, similar to what I’m doing now. That way I have no major outlay and my handset repayments may even decrease if I can knock of a big chunk of it at the outset.

This must be scintillating reading. I can’t believe you made it this far.

The Sony Ericsson cybershot isnt too bad.

Its got a 3.2 megapixel camera, which is handy and the photos come up pretty good.

But yes, I feel your pain of not having a phone. You must feel quite naked without it.

Another tid bit of boring advice, is that if you have CGU contents insrurance for your house it also includes small electrical devices (cameras and phones) even if you loose them anywhere in Australia. You can also choose a variety of excess levels.

No I dont work for an insurance co. I have just found it useful in the past for when Ive lost my phone. :)

That’s the k800i, right? I’m thinking about upgrading to that, but want to find out if I can get the k810i as it’s not quite as bulky. Either way, I’ll stay with SE, now that I have 2 friggin sets of accessories.

If anyone’s headphones are buggered, I can sell you a brand spankin pair.
