Your dirty mind

While I don’t claim to know everything concerning the polical machinations of the Bill Henson case, I will say this.

Honi soit qui mal y pense.

By which I mean, if you can look at a picture of an impassively posed, naked 13-year old girl and see something salacious, shame on you.

Hey mate, how are you? Thanks for the email.

I am against Bill Henson’s works for much the same reason as you’ve listed here. I found them to be deliberately provocative, especially the girl on all fours, and deliberating enticing some form of ‘conversion’ of ‘normal people’ into understanding why pedophiles ‘love’ children.

That very innocent, naive form is what draws that pervs in the first place. I imagine before they were removed from the media websites, that heaps of people would have saved them for their personal stash.

We’re talking about sick minded individuals that collect target catalogues, and take pics of kids in CLOTHES and bathers that stick to little wet bodies. Can you imagine what a pedo would do with those shots? It’s heaven.

Totally against his ‘art’ and I think he looks creepy too.

It is 1880′s retro porn, he’s no longer even an original child porn ‘artist’. He’s a copyist.

Ultimately, it is subliminal, the stuff on the wall is iconic, the stuff in the back, is a staightforward cash sale to a rich pedpophile.

He had immunity from prosecution, he had a niche, pedophiles adored him, because he did X, and he got away with X, and getting away with it pushes their politics a little further forward.

He’s a pedophile icon, hero, the next ‘artist’ caught with child pornography has a useful precedent.

The pro-rights child advocates have been hammered by the pro-pornography people, which is what Alison Croggon’s crowd are. They’re pro-sex feminists ( celebrity feminism) with a few pro-porn fanatics thrown into the mix.

Ms Croggon forgot to mention in her sign-on letter that the galleriews cited had banned Henson’s material. she is also censoring her Theatrenotes blog! I just love a hypocrite, it is all so very ersatz-legitimate.

Which is the last point, if anybody had any hope of Oz, becoming less parochial, they were wrong. What we had was a picture of a country in dialogue with itself after the fashion of Texas.

Child pornography became legal in Oz because of Bill Henson, he is your greatest visual legitimizer of child pornography, I look forward to the day he gets arrested in a country that takes the proble seriously.

That’s the most sensible thing I have ever seen on the internet. Go moderate me baby, I need it. Even the Bill of Rights went through a few drafts.

The more I think about it, the more I think that the end product, or the furore over it, is largely irrelevant. The art v. porn thing is years old and I’m sure it’ll be around for a long time to come. BH’s latest work is just the latest ball in the scrum and both sides are getting muddy fighting over it.

My only concern is that the subjects in the photos were/are ok.
