The shoe’s on the other foot now

Payday is Monday, so in the preceding weekend, things sometimes get a bit tight. We banked a cheque on Wednesday which was supposed to have cleared by this morning.
It hasn’t.
I called the bank, who have admitted a “processing fault”. So I just emailed them this:

Dear Co******alth Bank,
I have just been speaking to one of your [...]

Bankers, with a capital C.

…aaaaand  we’ve just come off our fixed home loan rate to the standard variable, sending our monthly repayment through the stratosphere.
So now I can’t actually afford the shoes. Probably not this year.
Anyway, there probably would have been some kind of penatly fee for buying something in a foreign currency.
